Students transferring from New River Community & Technical College (New River CTC) to Marshall University with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree are guaranteed admission, provided they:

• Have a minimum 2.0 GPA and are in good academic standing.

• Meet all transfer admission requirements of Marshall University.

• Submit an application and pay applicable admission fees.

Marshall University will accept a maximum of 72 credit hours of college-level coursework from New River CTC, which may count toward general education and degree-specific requirements. However, guaranteed admission does not ensure acceptance into specific programs, as some may have additional entry requirements.

This agreement supports students pursuing a variety of bachelor’s degree programs, including the Regents Bachelor of Arts (RBA) degree, which allows adult learners to receive credit for prior learning, work experience, military service, and professional training.

• Course Equivalencies: Marshall University and New River CTC will maintain and update a list of transferable courses annually.

• Degree Completion Support: Academic advisors at both institutions will guide students in selecting courses that align with their intended major at Marshall University.

• Reverse Transfer Option: Students who transfer before completing their associate degree may receive the credential retroactively once they reach 60 total credit hours at Marshall University.

To enroll at Marshall University under this agreement, students must:

1. Submit a transfer application, including transcripts from New River CTC.

2. Indicate their intended major and complete any additional requirements for selective programs.

3. Request a transfer evaluation for their coursework, ensuring maximum credit acceptance.

4. Complete prior learning assessments (if applicable) for credit consideration based on professional experience or military training.

5. Pay applicable fees for portfolio assessment and admission processing.

Marshall University will track student progress and provide updates to New River CTC, ensuring students stay on the path to completing their degrees efficiently.
