Admission and Credits

Students who graduate with an associate’s degree and have a transferable GPA of at least 2.0 and are in good standing are guaranteed admission to BSU. Guaranteed admission to BSU does not mean such students are guaranteed admission to their articulated majors without satisfying the BSU major criteria.

Enrollment and Requirements

Student pursing a bachelor’s degree through this articulation agreement will be bound by the curriculum requirements in effect at the time they are officially accepted into the articulated program.

Journey to Elementary Education

New River Community and Technical College has partnered with Bluefield State University to offer students a seamless pathway to earning a bachelor’s degree. This agreement makes it easier for New River CTC graduates to transfer credits and continue their education at Bluefield State, saving time and money while expanding career opportunities.

Through this partnership, students pursuing a career in elementary education can seamlessly transition from NRCTC to Bluefield State’s teacher preparation program. This means students can begin their journey at New River CTC with foundational coursework and then move into Bluefield State’s accredited program to complete their bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. With this streamlined process, future educators can focus on gaining the skills and credentials needed to enter the classroom with confidence, ensuring a smooth and cost-effective path to becoming a licensed teacher.
