Tutoring

Need Some Extra Help?

We’ve got you covered! Our tutoring services are here to help you tackle challenging subjects, boost your confidence, and achieve your academic goals. We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Please note, tutoring is not available in all subjects, and tutoring availability is based on the availability of qualified tutors.

Online Brainfuse Tutoring

Brainfuse is available through Brightspace and provides students with live tutoring, expert writing assistance, and more. Tutors and students communicate in real-time through the Brainfuse Online Classroom. There is a 24/7 Question Center for students who need a detailed, structured explanation of key concepts or help with an assignment.

Brainfuse is integrated with Brightspace, so students should see a link in each course to Brainfuse. Students simply submit their questions and receive feedback from the Brainfuse-certified instructor. Instructors must make this tool available by adding the Course Tool to their Brightspace course so that students can then access Brainfuse.

Become a Tutor

Professional tutors are generally adjunct faculty or others who hold either a Bachelor or Master’s degree in the area they wish to tutor.

If you are interested in becoming a paid, professional tutor, please contact Student Services by emailing: student services@newriver.edu

Student Peer Tutors are volunteer students who have demonstrated a mastery of the course content they will tutor. An instructor must recommend a student for the position based on their performance in their class. Peer tutors must have an earned overall 3.0 GPA and at least a 3.0 GPA in the subject they wish to tutor.

All volunteers interested in being a Student Peer Tutor
are encouraged to contact student services.
