Starting a program of study that will eventually lead to successfully obtaining a degree, certificate, or skill set takes careful planning. Students need the guidance of an academic advisor to be assured they are on track to degree completion that leads to a meaningful career.

In our Student Success Center we have academic advising available to current students when their faculty advisor is not available and during summers and other specific peak times. Students interested in transfer opportunities to a four year college or University are encouraged to speak to one of the Educational Counselors.

If you are undecided about your career path, there are resources available to help you identify careers that may fit your interests, personality, and aptitude. We have Career Coach, an interest inventory that students who are not quite sure which direction to go can take. The assessment is free to New River CTC students and the Educational Counselor can give you instructions and log in information to take the assessment.
