The Raleigh County Assessor, Raleigh County Commission and New River Community and Technical College held an unveiling ceremony for the welding sculpture, “Raleigh County, West Virginia,” created by New River CTC faculty, staff and students on Friday, July 29, 2022.
The welded sculpture features the state of West Virginia inside of a circle and highlights the location of Raleigh County. The sculpture is located inside the Raleigh County Courthouse Conference Room.
“I serve on the Board of Governors for New River CTC, and I’ve seen many signs, sculptures and other items produced by the college’s welding faculty and students. I was impressed by their craftmanship and am thrilled that we now have an original piece of artwork in the Raleigh County Courthouse created by those at one of our regional colleges,” Raleigh County Assessor Linda Sumner said.
New River CTC offers welding courses at the Advanced Technology Center in Ghent and in Lewisburg.
Registration for welding and other programs is underway now for the fall semester starting Aug. 22, 2022. Visit www.newriver.edu, email admissions@newriver.edu or call 1-866-349-3739 for more information about New River CTC.
