New River CTC welcomes Greenbrier County Schools to Greenbrier Valley Campus

[LEWISBURG, W.Va.] Over the summer New River Community and Technical College welcomed the relocation of Greenbrier County Schools’ administrative offices to its Lewisburg campus. The move is part of partnership between the two entities designed to increase educational opportunities for students, improve services, and increase efficiencies for both organizations.

With co-location of administrative offices complete, New River CTC and Greenbrier County Schools are exploring ways to enhance educational opportunities for learners across the K – 12 and higher education continuum. Preparing students in our community with the knowledge, skills, experience, and credentials required for success in today’s workforce is the primary goal of the partnership.

“New River CTC is on the leading edge of developing career paths with high schools within our region,” explained New River CTC President Dr. Bonny Copenhaver. “As recent legislation calls for greater collaboration between community and technical colleges and high schools, we are demonstrating that we have a true partnership to expand educational opportunities.”

Through this collaboration, New River CTC and GCS are partnering to increase both dual enrollment and EDGE (Earn a Degree Graduate Early) courses. The organizations are also working with the Greenbrier Economic Development Council to explore the viability of offering Aerospace training in Greenbrier County.

“Our partnership with New River CTC is exceptional on many levels. The enhanced reach, impact and efficiencies realized through our efforts are already benefitting students, our community, and our organizations.  Our collaboration has opened the door for us to establish the Greenbrier County Achievement Center at our Chestnut Street location. We are gaining efficiencies and at the same time directing valuable resources to accomplish our shared goals in serving students,” states Superintendent Jeff Bryant.

New River Community and Technical College serves nine counties in southeastern West Virginia from the Greenbrier Valley Campus (Lewisburg), Mercer County Campus (Princeton), Nicholas County Campus (Summersville) and Raleigh County Campus (Beaver).
