New River Community and Technical College’s Certificate of Applied Science in Practical Nursing program received full accreditation from the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses during a recent reaccreditation visit.
“Accreditation is essential for nursing programs,” New River CTC Director of Practical Nursing JoAnna Perry explained. “Our staff and faculty are dedicated to offering quality education, and we understand the need for trained nurses in our region. Receiving full accreditation during our reaccreditation visit confirms the value of our work.”
Perry was recognized by the Future of Nursing WV Action Coalition earlier this year and received the 2022 Nurse Excellence Award. The Nurse Excellence Award recognizes nurses and community partners who are building a culture of health in West Virginia through advancing nursing practice, education and leadership.
New River CTC offers the practical nursing program at the Greenbrier Valley Campus in Lewisburg, Nicholas County Campus in Summersville, Raleigh County Campus in Beaver and Summers County ARH Hospital in Hinton.
Applications for the fall 2023 cohort will be accepted through April 1, 2023. Nursing student applicants must apply to New River CTC and be accepted to the college before applying to the college’s nursing programs. Once accepted, students can earn their practical nursing certificate in 11 months.
TEAS testing will be scheduled at New River CTC campuses in March for nursing student applicants.
