New River CTC Hosted Successful Skill and Trade Expo in Collaboration with Workforce WV

[GHENT, WV]— New River Community and Technical College successfully hosted its Skill and Trade Expo in collaboration with Workforce WV on Wednesday, on May 1, 2024. This job fair provided current students and the public with the opportunity to connect with potential employers in various skilled trade industries.

The event, held at the Advanced Technology Center (ATC) in Ghent, WV, attracted a large number of attendees interested in networking with industry professionals and learning about the range of programs available at New River CTC. Attendees were treated to a variety of demonstrations and hands-on experiences, showcasing the skills of New River CTC students.

A highlight of the event was the array of complimentary services provided by New River CTC’s programs. The massage therapy program offered free chair massages, the barbering program provided free haircuts, and the automotive program performed free oil changes.

“We are thrilled to celebrate National Skilled Trades Day by partnering with WorkForce WV for a job fair that brings together our advisory boards, students, and the public. This event is a prime opportunity for networking and connecting our students with potential future employers, as we look forward to fostering new relationships and showcasing the diverse career paths available in the skilled trades,” said Jonathan Hartwell, New River CTC Dean of Workforce Technical and Community Education.

The Skill and Trade Expo reinforced New River CTC’s commitment to bridging the gap between education and employment, fostering community engagement, and supporting local industries.
