[BEAVER, WV] – New River Community and Technical College is excited to announce the offering of a comprehensive Real Estate Licensure course this fall, designed to meet the requirements of the West Virginia Real Estate Commission. This 10-week course provides essential training for individuals seeking to obtain their Real Estate license, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career in real estate.
Course Details:
- Dates: August 19 – November 4 (No class the week of September 9)
- Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
- Location: Mercer County Campus
- Cost: $500 with an additional $40 for the book

Instructor Bio:
Joyce Barker, a lifelong resident of Princeton, West Virginia, attended Princeton High School, Mountain State University, Bluefield State College, and Marshall University. In 2014, after a distinguished 30-year career in various academic roles, she transitioned into real estate. She now teaches the West Virginia Real Estate Licensure Course at New River Community and Technical College and serves as a Real Estate Broker at Barker Realty. Joyce’s accolades include Employee of the Year, Board of Education Extra Miler, WV State Delegate for the medical profession, WV Teacher’s Achiever, and Top Real Estate Sales Agent of the Year. Her designations include Licensed WV Real Estate Instructor, Certified Distance Educator Instructor (CDEI), Graduate REALTOR Institute (GRI), Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), and Seller Representative Specialist (SRS). She is also a Certified Professional Tutor, Certified Career Coach, Certified Interior Decorator, and an Accredited Real Estate Home-Staging Professional.
