[SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va.] New River Community and Technical College is offering a gourmet mushroom growing class on Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the campus in Summersville.
Restaurants are in need of local suppliers of “hard-to-get” mushrooms, some may be priced as high as $200 per pound when dried. Students will be prepared to help meet the need of supplying mushrooms. Participants will learn about mushroom growing, identifying mushrooms and how to build a hoop house or shade house.
Pre-registration for the course is required by Sept. 12. The cost is $25.
