The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Information Technology will prepare students to work in the general information technology field. Three industry recognized CompTIA Certifications are embedded in this program: A+, Network+ and Server+.

- Technical Proficiency: Develop foundational skills in managing and troubleshooting hardware and software systems, aligning with industry standards.
- Networking Skills: Gain expertise in designing, configuring, and managing network infrastructures, including understanding of network topologies, protocols, and security measures.
- System Administration: Learn to administer various operating systems with an emphasis on system setup, maintenance, and security.
- Problem Solving: Cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve IT issues effectively.
- Communication Skills: Enhance the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders in the IT environment, including technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ethical and Legal Considerations: Understand the ethical and legal implications of information technology, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations in digital environments.
- Hands-On Experience: Engage in practical, hands-on learning experiences through labs, projects, and internships to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.
To be eligible for admission into this program, students must meet the general requirements for admission to New River Community and Technical College.
