Diesel Service Technology AAS

This 60-hour Associate of Applied Science Degree in Diesel Service Technology program is designed to provide students with the technical knowledge and skills required of persons employed in the automotive and diesel industries. Through a comprehensive curriculum that blends classroom instruction with hands-on training, students develop technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and professional skills necessary to excel in the field. The program emphasizes industry-standard diagnostic techniques, safety practices, and teamwork to ensure that graduates are workforce-ready and equipped to adapt to evolving automotive technologies.

Program Learning Outcomes

1. Practice safety in an Automotive or Diesel workshop environment.
2. Operate as a member of a group and with limited supervision towards the common goal of the employer.
3. Employ manuals, diagrams, and programs to identify problems and solve those problems for proper customer satisfaction.
4. Employ the latest industry tools and diagnostic equipment for servicing and repairing malfunctioning complex Automotive & Diesel systems.
5. Demonstrate proficiency in the operating sequence and logic of controls and equipment as they work together through an integrated systems approach.

To be eligible for admission into this program, students must meet the general requirements for admission to New River Community and Technical College.
