Automotive and Diesel Service Technology CAS

This 30-credit-hour certificate in Automotive and Diesel Service Technology is designed to provide students with the entry-level technical knowledge and skills required of persons employed in the automotive and diesel industries. Through a comprehensive curriculum that blends classroom instruction with hands-on training, students develop technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and professional skills necessary to excel in the field. The program emphasizes industry-standard diagnostic techniques, safety practices, and teamwork to ensure that graduates are workforce-ready and equipped to adapt to evolving automotive technologies.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Practice safety in an Automotive or Diesel workshop environment.
  2. Operate as a member of a group and with limited supervision towards the common goal of the employer.
  3. Use manuals, diagrams, and programs to have a working knowledge of customers’ vehicle complaints.
  4. Employ fundamental knowledge of malfunctioning complex Automotive & Diesel systems.

4. Technical Proficiency and Tool Utilization: Ensure students are proficient in using the latest industry tools and diagnostic equipment to service and maintain complex automotive and diesel systems.
5. Systems Integration and Functionality: Provide students with a comprehensive understanding of vehicle control systems, operating sequences, and component interactions to diagnose and repair advanced mechanical and electronic issues.
6. Industry Readiness and Customer Service: Prepare students to meet employer expectations by developing strong communication skills, customer service abilities, and adaptability to emerging automotive technologies.
