Class B CDL training now offered at New River CTC

[GHENT, W.Va.] New River Community and Technical has added a new Workforce Education class for fall, Class B CDL training. The course will give students the opportunity to complete training and seat time to obtain the Class B CDL license with the school bus and passenger endorsement.

“There’s a need for school bus drivers in our region. We’ve heard of shortages in our area as well as Tazewell County, Virginia,” explained Workforce Program Specialist Brian Sampson. “This class allows students to train and test at our facility in Ghent preparing them for employment in four days.”

The class will run October 22-25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with testing held on the last day of class.

CDL students must have a valid-unrestricted driver’s license for a minimum of two years and obtain a Class B CDL learner’s permit with the school bus and passenger endorsement at least two weeks prior to the start of class.

Preregistration is required by October 15.
