Greenbrier Hall is the main building for the Greenbrier Valley Campus which is located in downtown Lewisburg. Greenbrier Hall is a 48,000 sq ft. facility in Academy Park, which consists of North House Museum, Carnegie Hall, and the Greenbrier County Library. All the facilities, with the exception of the Greenbrier County Library, were part of the facilities of the Greenbrier Women's College. The Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River proudly carries on the tradition of serving the population of the Greenbrier Valley which started with the Greenbrier Women's College. Greenbrier Hall was renovated in the mid-1990s and the first classes were taught in the facility in the spring of 1998. The community was instrumental in raising the funds necessary for the extensive renovations. The Greenbrier Community College Foundation was the lead agency responsible for raising the funds necessary to provide our students with a world class facility. Greenbrier Hall is completely ADA compliant. It houses nine classrooms - most with tables and chairs to accommodate adult students, state of the art biology and physical science laboratories, two computer classrooms, two computer labs for student use, a 91 seat auditorium, a full service library, a well-appointed student center, a Learning Resource Center, and all administrative and faculty offices. In addition to these offices there is a fully appointed training room, which hosts the Adult Basic Education program.
The Machine Tool Technology Center is located on Fairview Road in Lewisburg. The Machine Tool Technology Center houses both our machining program and welding programs. Both programs are high demand programs for our area and have very high placement rates for students who complete the program. The Greenbrier Valley Campus Welding program is the only accredited test facility in the West Virginia. Students who successfully complete their certification testing will receive internationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society.
Jefferson Office Park provides additional classrooms for general instruction. It is located a block and a half from Greenbrier Hall. In addition to the classroom space, Jefferson Office Park is the location for the Center for Workforce Education, which hosts several additional programs including SCORE and the very successful Road Scholar program. The Tabling Gaming program is located in facility as well.
Salisbury Farm was a gift of 47 acres of land to the Greenbrier Valley Campus. The farm is located less than a 1/4 of a mile from the main campus. It is the future home of the Technology Center for the Lewisburg Campus of New River Community and Technical College.
The Fine Arts Center and the "Old Library Building" are currently undergoing renovation. The Fine Arts Center will be designed and operated with the goal of providing a world class learning experience for students specializing in our Associate of Fine Arts Degree. The building will also host a new Allied Health Training Center, as well as a new student commons with a food service vendor. The "Old Library Building" will become home to the GVC Library. The building, while historic in nature, will provide all cutting edge technology found in modern libraries.
Lee Street Complex is located in the former Lewisburg Elementary.
A college can be judged by many things – the quality of its faculty, the determination of its students, the adequacy of its facilities to meet its mission, and, above all, the support given to students to help fulfill their dreams. Our Beckley Campus continues to grow yet retain the warmth of a small college. We have waited a long time to get first class facilities to match a first class education.
As Dean of the Beckley Campus, I look forward to guiding our campus as we celebrate the opening of a beautiful, new Raleigh County Campus in Beaver, WV. The possibility for New River to continue to serve its many communities driven by the total commitment of the College leadership has never been brighter. One of the advantages of choosing to attend a smaller college is the opportunity to get to know the faculty members and allow them to help you as much as possible. You will learn to treasure this opportunity!
To that end, I welcome you to visit the Beckley Campus and share in our success.
