Course Schedule Information

Please refer to the General Schedule Information for important dates as well as tuition/fee information. The schedules on this page include courses offered at all New River CTC locations.

Final Exam Schedule for Spring 2017

For the most current information (it is updated in real time), you may now access our Interactive Course Schedule database to sort, query and interact with the data to locate specifically the course information you need. Because the schedule changes so frequently, any printed version is already out of date but this interactive version has the most current information. You can use the interactive database to find all the MATH 100 courses or all the courses offered just on the Nicholas County campus. You could even query to find only the courses offered at 1000 hours (10AM) or maybe just the completely online (WEB) courses. For information regarding the best web browsers to use with the Interactive Course Schedules, please see this information.

Interactive Course Schedules

We also provide all-on-one-page versions of the schedules, as well as the IVN courses separated from all the other courses in a graphical display to quickly see where the IVN courses are scheduled. New River CTC offers courses in a number of Instructional Methods that include distance education (Blackboard and IVN courses).

Drug Offenses and Financial Aid

The Higher Education Opportunity Act requires all colleges and universities to notify all students, even those who are not receiving financial aid, about the financial aid implications of drug convictions. Under federal law, anyone convicted of a drug offense while receiving federal financial aid will lose their eligibility. This communication is to make you aware of the consequences for drug convictions; we are not implying or assuming any prior drug conviction or offense.

Here’s a quick guide to the regulations:

Those convicted of possessing illegal drugs will lose financial aid eligibility for:

  • First offense: 1 year from date of conviction
  • Second offense: 2 years from date of conviction
  • Third offense: indefinitely

Those convicted of selling illegal drugs will lose financial aid eligibility for:

  • First offense: 2 years from date of conviction
  • Second offense: indefinitely

For more information, review the FAFSA rules on financial aid eligibility.

If you have questions about this federal financial aid policy, speak with a Financial Aid Counselor at New River Community and Technical College.

Financial Aid Refunds

The first financial aid refund check distribution date is the third Thursday of each semester. If a student does not have a refund check on the first distribution date, they may have one the following week depending on when their financial aid is processed. The Business Office processes a new batch of refund checks every Thursday. We are required by federal regulations to monitor student attendance. The Business Office pulls an attendance report each week, and if your attendance is not verified, we cannot release your refund check. If there is a mistake in your attendance information, you will be referred to the Dean’s office. If the Dean can determine you have been attending, he or she will sign a form so the Business Office can release your check. Students are required to bring a photo ID before the Business Office can release their check.

Rely on multiple methods of communication regarding the College’s Inclement Weather decisions. The Alert Messaging System is one method of sharing information (New River CTC’s portal, email and text messaging). Other methods include posting here, on official College social media channels (Facebook and Twitter), campus weather lines and messages sent to local television and radio stations.
