New River CTC Students Aid Mercer County Animal Shelter

New River CTC students who participated in a service project at the Mercer County Animal Shelter are (l-r) Amber Russ, Megan Kittle, Amanda Walls, Cassandra Tait, Dalton Russ and Morgan Cook.

[PRINCETON, W. VA.] The Life Skills Management class taught by Dianna Putorek this summer at the New River Community and Technical College Mercer County Campus conducted a community service project on June 16. The students visited the Mercer County Animal Shelter in Princeton, where they helped wipe down walls and offered support for the animals as the shelter was getting ready for an adoption event the next weekend.

The shelter's goal is to provide shelter, safety, and food for orphaned and abused animals in Mercer County with the hope of placing them in loving homes. If anyone is willing to adopt a pet, please visit the Mercer County Animal Shelter, located at 961 Shelter Road in Princeton, or call 304-425-2838.

Fall classes will begin Aug. 18 at New River CTC. The Mercer County Campus, which is currently co-located with the Mercer County Technical Education Center in Princeton, will host an open house on Wednesday, July 16, from 4-7 p.m. The college is anticipating that the campus will move into the former First Community Bank Building on Mercer Street this fall. For more information, call (304) 425-5858.
