Homemade Breads and Digital Photography Classes Start in April at New River CTC Nicholas County Campus

[SUMMERSVILLE, W. VA.] The New River Community and Technical College Office of Workforce Education will offer classes in Homemade Bread Baking and Digital Photography in Summersville, W. Va., starting in early April.

Lifelong baking enthusiast Carolyn Collins will bring the breads of the past back into your kitchen. In this class you will learn how to make delicious homemade hot rolls, mouthwatering biscuits and made-from-scratch cinnamon rolls. You'll even learn how to tell the difference between cornpone and cornbread. Participants will bake a different item each night to take home.

The class will meet at the 4-H Building at Veterans Memorial Park on Route 19 in Summersville on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. from April 3 through April 24. Tuition is $50 plus a $10 supply fee.

A four-session Basic Digital Photography Class will begin Thursday, April 3. Instructor Matthew Todd has years of professional photography knowledge and teaching experience.

A variety of photography tips and techniques will be taught, making it ideal for beginners as well as those with more knowledge. Students will learn about basic camera functions, how to best utilize camera features and functions, lighting, the art of posing and recommendations for editing software and print options. Students also will have at least one on-site photo shoot.

The class will meet on Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. at the New River Community and Technical College Office of Workforce Education, 830 Northside Drive in Summersville. Students will be asked to complete about an hour of work outside of class each week. The class concludes on April 24. Tuition is $125.

Financial Aid Refund

The first day for distribution of financial aid refund checks is Thursday, Sept. 4.  Checks can be picked up in the Business Office on your campus. Students must attend all classes and be actively participating in online courses in order to be eligible to pick up a financial aid refund check.
