Michael King Joins Faculty at New River’s Advanced Technology Center

[BECKLEY, W. VA] Michael D. King has joined the faculty at the New River Community and Technical College Advanced Technology Center in Ghent, W. Va., as a visiting instructional specialist in the Line Service Mechanic program. The program prepares men and women to construct, install and repair electrical distribution, telephone and cable transmission systems.

King is retired from American Electric Power (AEP) in Charleston, where he worked for 38 years. He has extensive experience with transmission systems, distribution systems, low voltage systems and underground and network systems. He earned a diploma in electrical engineering from International Correspondence Schools (ICS) of Scranton, Pa., and is a licensed master electrician.

New River Community and Technical College is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. It serves nine counties in southeastern West Virginia from five locations: Mercer County Campus (Princeton), Nicholas County Campus (Summersville), Beckley Campus, Greenbrier Valley Campus (Lewisburg) and the Advanced Technology Center (Ghent). Administrative offices are located in Beckley.
