Course in How to Design Your Own Fitness Plan Offered in Beckley

[Beckley, W. Va.] The New River Community and Technical College Office of Workforce Education will offer a two-night community education class on Designing Your Own Fitness Program on Feb. 25 and 27 at the Beckley Campus in the Harper Industrial Park.

Instructor Sherry McCormick-Hawkins will help you help you tailor a fitness program suited to your needs. Cardio, weight training, and flexibility training will be discussed, along with the best techniques for fat and weight loss and busting those stubborn plateaus.

McCormick-Hawkins has been involved in the fitness industry for more than 25 years and has worked as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor, exercise programmer, health club manager and nutrition and fitness counselor.

McCormick-Hawkins earned bachelor's degrees in sociology and exercise science from the University of Texas at Arlington. She also has a master's in kinesiology and health science from Stephen F. Austin University. She is certified as a personal fitness trainer.

Moving Celebration

In celebration of the new Mercer County Campus, the college will be having a moving celebration outside the new location at 1001 Mercer Street in downtown Princeton on Thursday, July 31 from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on that day.  There will be lemonade and cookies as well as staff available to answer questions about plans for the campus and to assist with registering for classes.
