[BECKLEY, W. VA.] New River Community and Technical College is introducing three new accelerated professional certificates in fields that are in high demand in southern West Virginia—automotive light repair, welding and commercial truck driving.
New River will host an information session at the Advanced Technology Center, located at 527 Odd Road in Ghent, on Friday, Dec. 13, from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. to give prospective students an opportunity to meet instructors and learn about financial assistance opportunities.
Automotive light repair is a 16-week program that will begin on Jan. 13. Classes will meet Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Welding will begin on Jan. 6 and run for 18 weeks. Classes will meet Monday through Thursday, 5-9 p.m. CDL is a six-week program with start dates of Jan. 13, March 3 and April 22. Classes will meet from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

New River Community and Technical College is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. It serves nine counties in southeastern West Virginia from five locations: Mercer County Campus (Princeton), Nicholas County Campus (Summersville), Beckley Campus, Greenbrier Valley Campus (Lewisburg) and the Advanced Technology Center (Ghent).
