Weather Lines

The College has four campus Weather Lines which you may call to find out the current status of any possible weather-related closures.  Those numbers are:

Beckley and Raleigh County = 304-929-5483
Greenbrier Valley = 304-647-6587
Mercer County = 304-818-2008
Nicholas County = 304-883-2421

Alert System

If you haven't yet registered for the College's Alert Messaging System, we strongly encourage you to do so.  Once you've registered you'll receive any emergency messages directly on your cell phone (or as an email if you prefer that).  Weather-related closings are communicated this way.  The link for the Alert Messaging System is: http://web.newriver.edu/alerts/index.html

Apply NOW for a New River Foundation Scholarship

New River Community and Technical College Foundation awards scholarships to current students and to graduating seniors from high schools in the college's nine county service region.  We expect to award scholarships in excess of $60,000 during the 2010-2011 academic year.  Applications (Beckley/Raleigh County, Greenbrier Valley, Mercer County, Nicholas County) and descriptions are available in the Student Services Office on each New River campus and high schools in our service region.  Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Business Plan Competition

Do YOU have the next BIG IDEA?  Do you have a struggling company and need a new course of action or direction?  All full- or part-time New River students are invited to participate in the National Entrepreneurship Week Business Plan Competition sponsored by New River Community and Technical College and The Women's Business & Training Center.  How do you get involved?  Contact the Office of Workforce Education located at 301-B George Street, call 304.929.6735 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Faculty Academy 2010

The date for Faculty Academy 2010 will be May 18, 2010.  The deadline for submitting your proposal is March 31, 2010 and the online Call for Proposals (PDF) is available so that you can type in your information and then print and submit it. Dr. Gardner Campbell from Baylor University will deliver the keynote address.

The Spring 2010 term (201002) course schedule is now available as a link so that you may query and obtain the latest information.

Virtual Bookstore (more info)

New River has implemented a "virtual bookstore" in an effort to improve this service for students. Rather than waiting in line at one of our five campus locations, students will be able to browse, select, and order books online and they will be shipped to your home address within 2 days to 3 weeks (depending on the shipping method selected).

    Blackjack Dealer Training is a positive first step toward a future in gaming.  Other classes offered are Roulette, Craps and Three-Card Poker.
