The following scholarships are now available to Greenbrier Valley Campus students for the Spring 2012 Semester
Madlyn E. Fort Health Sciences Scholarship
The Madlyn E. Fort Health Sciences Scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Kyle F. Fort as a perpetual memorial to his mother, Madlyn E. Fort. This scholarship is awarded to recent high school graduates or adult students admitted to an accredited course of study in health sciences. An award of $625 is available.
Criteria for Selection
• Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
• Students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
• Applicant must demonstrate financial need.
Application Process
• Applicants must submit a New River Community and Technical College Foundation scholarship application. Applicants must submit high school or college reports showing achievement in health sciences courses or employment or other volunteer work in health sciences along with three written references verifying the applicant's interest in health sciences from persons engaged in sciences careers.
Scholarship Awards
• This scholarship may be renewed a second year, but the student must reapply and compete with other applicants.
Jeanne and Lawson Hamilton Scholarship
The Jeanne and Lawson Hamilton Scholarship was established to assist students attending New River Community and Technical College. An award of $250 is available.
Criteria for Selection
• Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
• The student must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
• Applicant must demonstrate financial need.

• Applicants must submit a New River Community and Technical College Foundation scholarship application.
Scholarship Award
• This scholarship may be renewed a second year, but students must reapply and compete with other applicants.
Babe and Sidney Louis Hyatt Scholarship
The Babe and Sidney Louis Hyatt Scholarship was established for students who share the Hyatt brothers' interests, which included agriculture, business, religious fidelity, reading, respect for family and community traditions, and self improvement. An award of $500 is available.
Criteria for Selection
• High school seniors, adult students, and GED holders are invited to apply.
• Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students taking at least 12 semester hours.
• The student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
Application Process
• Applicants must submit a New River Community and Technical College Foundation scholarship application.
• Honoring the Jewish faith was important to the Hyatt brothers and the notions of righteousness they valued; therefore, applicants must read about the Jewish folklore of the "Thirty-Six Hidden Saints" and submit an original 500-word, typed essay describing someone they have know whose life reminds them of these saints. Reference materials are available in the GVC campus library.

Mary Louise & Jim Kilcollin Scholarship
The Mary Louise & Jim Kilcollin Scholarship is endowed by Dr. and Mrs. Mark C. Kilcollin in memory of Dr. Kilcollin's parents. An award of $250 is available.
Criteria for Selection
• Applicant must be a student enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
• The student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
• Applicant must demonstrate financial need.

Ann and Richard Kline Scholarship
The Ann and Richard Kline scholarship was established by Dr. and Mrs. Richard Kline to assist a student attending New River Community and Technical College. An award of $250 is available.

• Applicant must be a student enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
• The student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
• Applicant must demonstrate financial need.

Marie Leist Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded by the Marie Leist Foundation. There are two (2) scholarships available with an award of up to $1,500 per scholarship.
Criteria for Selection
• Applicants must be a student enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.
• The student must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.

David B. McClung Memorial Scholarship
The David B. McClung Memorial Scholarship is offered by the Greenbrier Valley Dental Society to promote and enable students pursuing careers in the healthcare industry. An award of $250 is available.
Criteria for Selection
• Applicant must be a student enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
• The student must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

Elizabeth W. Runyon Scholarship
The Elizabeth W. Runyon Scholarship is endowed by Donald R. and Shirley F. Runyon in memory of Donald L. Runyon's mother to encourage and enable students to pursue careers in health sciences. An award of $250 is available.
Criteria for Selection
• Applicant must be a student admitted to an accredited course of study in health sciences.
• Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
• The student must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
• Applicant must demonstrate financial need.

John L. Stewart, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
The John L. Stewart, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is endowed by Rosalie Stewart Detch in memory of her brother John L. Stewart to assist a student attending New River Community and Technical College. An award of $500 is available.
Criteria for Selection
• Applicant must be a student enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours.
• The student must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
• Preference is given to students aspiring to a career in business.
