Community Service Project
WHEN: Kick-off event: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Event, January 16, 2012; 9:00 a.m.— 3:00 p.m.; Work Project - Salvation Army offices, 312 South Fayette Street, Beckley, WV. Food Collection: January 17, 2012—February 17, 2012 (Multiple locations). Celebration Event: Saturday, February 18, 2012; 9:00 a.m.— 3:00 p.m. Food Distribution; Join us at the Salvation Army to assist in a food distribution day for area needy families.
WHERE: All campuses of New River Community and Technical College: Beckley, Ghent, Lewisburg, Princeton, and Summersville. Citizens Conservation Corps of West Virginia (CCCWV) offices, 198 George Street, Beckley, WV. Appalachian Coal Country Team (ACCT) offices, 2795 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV.
HOW: Look for donation sites at each New River campus or the CCCWV or ACCT offices. All donations will be collected and donated to the Salvation Army at the end of the project. New River Community and Technical College will be holding a food sculpture contest as part of the food drive. The winning New River campus gets a pizza lunch! Participate in our own Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service project.
This community service project is sponsored by a joint committee representing New River Community and Technical College, the Citizens Conservation Corps of West Virginia and the Appalachian Coal Country Team to help celebrate the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.
